The C-Card
The C-Card Scheme is a free and confidential condom distribution scheme which operates in over 200 community-based venues across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. These venues include schools, colleges, universities, pharmacies and local support services. All practitioners who deliver C-Card will receive guidance and training, resources and ongoing support from the C-Card team which is based at the Leicester Sexual Health Service in Leicester city.
Becoming a C-Card venue
Each venue has at least one trained professional who delivers C-Card and related information about sexual health. All practitioners who register people for C-Card will be trained to deliver the service according to national and local guidelines, including confidential assessment and delivery to young people under 16.
Many practitioners undertake “distribution” training to enable them to offer further C-Card packs to people who present their C-Card at the venue. This training is shorter than registration training and is ideally suited to staff in “front of house” or reception roles and this distribution role ensures quick, discreet and easy access to condoms.
To book C-Card training
C-Card registration training is now delivered by e-learning and practitioners will be enrolled on the session following approval by their line manager and by the Senior Project Worker at the C-Card team.
Distribution training for pharmacy staff will be delivered on-site, and by request to the team.
To enrol and access the training and/or to discuss your training needs, please contact Alison Spooner.
