Sexual Health Week runs from 15th-21st September, and this year’s theme, set by Brook, is “Chronically Online: Love, Sex & Relationships“.
For many of us, digital technology has become a familiar part of how we navigate relationships and manage our wellbeing. Apps are often the default when it comes to dating, and when we need an STI test, we’re just as likely to go online as we are to visit a clinic.
With the rise of AI, deepfakes and ChatGPT, this year’s them will look at how we make sense of what’s real and what’s not. It will also cover how social media is shaping public perceptions of contraception and reinforcing gender stereotypes, and how AI can be used effectively to improve sexual health services.
Throughout the week, Brook will be looking at how RSE can empower young people to think critically about the content they consume. They will also be exploring how integrating digital and face-to-face sexual health services can help address health inequalities.
Brook is also hosting live events, and will have lots of new resources available on their website including informative blogs and a new free course on contraception.
- The Big RSE Lesson will be held on Tuesday 16th September from 10:00 – 11:00AM for Year 9 and above, exploring the opportunities and challenges of digital life.
- A free Digital Sexual Health Services webinar will be held Thursday 18th September from 2:00 – 3:00PM to explore how digital tools are transforming how people manage their sexual health.
Visit the Brook website for more information on how to register and access these events and resources.
